It makes logical sense to conclude that a vast majority of the number of fat barbers that are good would dwarf the number of skinny barbers that are good, simply because there are more.

If in the NFL draft their was 3 projected top-ten running backs coming out of college.

And it was a draft heavy 10 projected top-ten offensive linemen coming out of college.

It would be safe to say the talent at offensive line coming out of college that particular year. That group would be better in comparison to the talent at running back.

Let me put it another way. With over 82.6% of Americans overweight., obese or severely obese. And the remaining 17.4% of Americans at a normal weight using a Body Mass Index, or (BMI).

I think it would be safe to say the talent pool for potential barbers, that would be coming out of the 82.6% would be substantially higher than the talent pool that would be coming out of the remaining 17.4% talent pool.

HipHopBarbersSupply recommends you oil your clippers before each use. To begin take your clippers in your hand. Hold them vertically upside down. Take a fine bristled brush and brush off all hair clinging to blades. Some pros prefer to use a common toothbrush.

While the clippers are running spray some disinfectant on the running blades. Make sure you spray in between the blades and on the sides of the blades.

Pat the clippers dry with a paper towel. Now they are disinfected. Now your ready to apply the oil. Take notice that you should never apply the oil in one long strip across the blades.

If you do this it will lubricate just fine. But you will be left with the problem of gunk build up in the middle later on from the excessive oil.

With the clippers running you put one drop on one end of the blade. Then you put another drop in the middle. The third drop goes on the opposite side of the first drop.

You can rotate the clippers slowly to get a even distribution of the oil on the clipper blades. It is not wrong if you personally like to put a little oil on the side track. But its not required.

Why wont my clippers cut my hair

If your clippers are not cutting correctly or not at all. It could be a couple of things wrong. Dull clippers will instead of cutting hair evenly, the blades will pull at hair as it cuts. This will leave crooked uneven cuts. Its a good idea to keep your clipper blades nice and sharp.

If your clipper blades become dull from neglecting to oil them. Or if they are dull due to natural wear and tear. The only recourse of action you have left is to have a professional sharpen the blades for you. The other option is to just simply replace the blades with new ones.

How do I know if my clipper blades are dull?

To test if your clipper blades are dull. Remove the blades from your clippers. The top blade on your clippers is the cutter blade. This is the blade that does the cutting, hence cutter blade. If you run your finger very gently across the teeth of the cutter blade, you will be able to test the sharpness of it.

If you neglect to clean your clippers regularly they will not cut well. They will grab hair. They will snag and pull. It is a good chance they will start irritating skin that they touch.

Clippers need to be taken care of. You wouldn’t just get in your car and drive it without ever checking oil levels would you? Using clippers over and over without cleaning them could leave you with some troubling circumstances.

Barbers that cut a clients hair and then move on to another client without cleaning and disinfecting their clippers is playing a dangerous game. Dirty clippers are unsanitary so clean your clippers.

How can I keep my clippers cool?

To keep clippers cool you have a number of different disinfectants, clipper oils and sprays that do the trick. With the blades constantly rubbing together it creates tremendous friction. Oils and sprays on the market help. Sprays dry up pretty quickly. Oils last much longer for keeping the blades adequately lubricated.

Based on your cutting schedule, you can begin to determine when its the appropriate time to oil your clippers. If your a very busy barber, you can judge when its time for oil by the number of heads you cut.

After a while you will know about the time it takes your clippers to start drying out. You will begin to know when they are starting to run a little hot. That will be your warning. As stated earlier, you do not want to have the metal getting too hot.

Hot clippers touching a neck is absolutely not comfortable. You can learn to know when to change the cutter blade.

Frankenstrat and Lucille never ran hot.

With experience you will begin to know when to switch to another pair of clippers to let the hot ones cool off for a while.

Professional barber clippers are made pretty sturdy these days. So we are talking an awful lot of cuts before you encounter this problem.

With that said, get to know your clippers. After time you will start to know every little whining noise your clippers make. If your clippers pull in the slightest way you will know.
